  One of the worst hostels I have ever stayed in! Despite the staff being lovely and incredibly helpful, the hostel itself is an absolute dive. We stayed in a private room for one night before carnival started and then moved to a 5 bed dorm in the basement. Neither room had a window which was ok for the private room but dire in a stuffy 5 bed dorm. The dorm felt like a prison cell, it was tiny, claustrophobic and smelled like a urinal. I saw a cockroach run under my bed as well. There were only 5 bathrooms for the entire hostel and at least two of the toilets would be blocked at any one time. So it was a nightmare trying to find a working bathroom. The cleaners also inexicably cleaned the bathrooms at peak times. The advertised "courtyard" is basically a massive hole in the roof in the middle of the hostel which meant that the basement rooms were flooded when it rained and the staff were having to constantly and ineffectively mop up. Stay here at your peril!!

  I have visited 4 other hostels in Rio before I get to El Misti hostel in Copacabana. The atmosphere was terrific! I am traveling solo so I wanted to find a hostel where I can meet people and do activities. Special thanks to João who has been a great help and such a positive person with his energy. He was the main reason that my friends and I went back to the same hostel when we visited Rio again.

  Good value travelers hostel. It is small but the rooms are clean and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen. The warmest staff who are always happy to help. Good location, close to the nightly activities, as well as the beach. Thank you very much for an incredible experience . Would definitely go back.

  Loved the place and the people in the front desk, they're super friendly and the hostel has a super family-friendly vibe. The only thing that I didn't like too much was that the female room felt like a bunker, felt a bit claustrophobic. The price is good for the room and amenities. Would definitely stay again, also... IS CLOSE TO EVERYTHING, is the perfect location.
