::A guy called Raphael, who described himself as ex-employee, told that Casa Mathilde is closed due to the COVID-19 situation, but it is highly improbable and less clever as they had a strong business on take-away even at the downtown main store, not to talk on the kiosks (Higienópolis and Vila Lobos Malls) and the vanished one of the Shopping Paulista. Isn’t reasonable to believe that they had dismissed all the trained staff, disconnected all the phone numbers without a recorded message, misinforming and ignoring all the loyal customers while burying their reputation on this process only because of COVID that someday will pass. Also strange is that they’re keeping the Web Site still on-line without a single note to inform about their supposedly decision in face of the Pandemic. That one guy, working in that NASA-style cleanroom, cooking that wonderful “Pastel de Nata” could have kept the Casa Mathilde's legacy and some jobs alive, just like many other businesses did. For those who are mourning the Mathilde and starving the Portuguese sweet taste I recommend the “Maria Cristina Doces”, located at a very close address in downtown on the “Rua Alvares Penteado 188”. = = = = = = = Hey guys, it looks like someone forgot to update their/your schedule on the Web Site, as the main store at downtown was closed this Monday (08/31/20 03:30PM) and there is nothing about other stores or kiosques addresses or phone numbers. By calling, it was told that they have a new store at the famous & historic Martinelli Building, but once again, there is nothing anywhere about this new point. MYSTERIES Someone said that the partners are fighting, but in the meantime, we could be allowed to enjoy their delicious cakes and breads, while helping for paying the lawyers!

::Holy cow their desserts and coffee are Aaaa-m-a-z-i-n-g! Tons of variety and they list the ingredients for people with dietary restrictions (like moi). Lots of dairy free options available and they still taste like dessert and not cardboard. Wish they had lactose free milk for their coffee, though. Otherwise, perfect spot for an afternoon coffee with lovely ambiance. Warning! It's quite popular. But there's always a spot upstairs.

::Well, a good place to enjoy really good piece of cakes: you ve really got a large choice... to be honest, a bit too much.. you need to come several times... Sure, your stomach will like it, but have a long walk before or after, otherwise your body will show you what you have done... although your wallet will be ligther than before entering the place :)) Apart that, enjoy the place ;)

::This place is a must. From the traditional pastéis de nata to the coffee, everything is excellent. It can get pretty crowded in the ground floor, but there are more tables and places to sit in the upper floors. Don’t de afraid of the cue, it moves pretty fast.

::Charming and delicious. They have the pastel de nata is so incredibly good. They have it down to a science, truly. Every single one I have had, has been perfectly creamy, with that lovely cinnamon flavor and insanely flakey pastry. Every one! And at this point I’ve had [REDACTED]. One day I will try other pastries there but at this point I am happy shoving as many of these bad boys into my mouth as possible every time I am in Centro.
